2016: We're Back

Hard to believe that it's been so long since our last post!  The good news is that we're back and with more equipment and capabilities than ever.

We now have an in-house embroidery machine in addition to a direct to garment printer which means no setup charges and no minimums on everything from t-shirts to hoodies and baby items.  If you have an idea, bring it to us!

It's hard to believe it's been so long since our last post.  We've picked up a new Chief Designer in Valerie Yang who brings her own creative spin to a lot of our projects.  She's going to be focusing on baby apparel and she'll be ramping our etsy shop back up in addition to working on new projects (to be announced).

So welcome Valerie!

Wedding Season has Begun!

It's the day of Prince William's wedding and we're full up involved in a few weddings ourselves.

We've recently re-designed the shop to better showcase our letterpress and apparel projects.

The happy couples get first look at the invitations so it'll be a couple weeks before we start posting the new works.  But stay tuned!

Sorry it's been a while...

It has been way too long since our last blog post but we have some good reasons!

We are about 95% done with the refinish of our Chandler & Price 10 x 15 letterpress.  This thing has been a 9-month project but hopefully the work we are doing will save us hundreds of hours in the long run.

We are about to launch an 'e-shop' which features great savings on items and will showcase some new items from our resident carpenter, Jeremy Taylor.  He's amazingly talented and has come up with a couple items that we are now going to offer to all of our Skyhawk Press customers.

We're about to head into production on some wedding invitations but unfortunately we won't post any pictures/images until the brides-to-be give us permission.  They want to surprise their guests with their creations (and we completely understand).

Submarine-Inspired Baby Onesies

We were asked to design some onesies for the Bangor Dolphin Scholarship Fund auction.  Here's what we came up with:

JDRF - Team JesSmiles Shirts

Last week we finished some shirts for a team of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Relief Fund) walkers in Springfield Virginia.  Below is the image of the back.  We here at Skyhawk Press will do anything and everything for a good cause, and this one in particular is really important.

A summer wedding Save-the-Dates

Just finished working with one of our best pals and photographer extraordinaire Katie on some special "Save-the-Dates" for her sister's upcoming wedding.  Here are the results:

JDRF Charity Team Shirt: Team JesSmiles

We're a big fan of large events for a good cause.  What's better than getting a team together for an afternoon of exercise and community?

This upcoming week we'll be working on some JDRF shirts (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund).  We've got a large team that is walking in memory of Jess Doubleday.  We're honored to be able to be able to make shirts for this team and help out in any way possible to raise money to cure diabetes.

A Custom Retirement Invitation

Things have been busy busy at the shop recently.  We've done a lot of one-offs which are very fun as we get to come up with things that are completely original!  Below is an invitation that we designed and just delivered to a customer.  He was very happy with the result, and so are we :)

Is it Baseball season already?

We've started to get some orders for baseball shirts, which means that spring training must be right around the corner!

Holiday Letterpress Home Stretch

Today was a busy day in the shop, with the final letterpress'ings of Holiday Cards.  We worked on two customers' orders and they dropped by a little early to take a look and even get in the pressing action.  Because our big press is still getting overhauled, we are on the little Chandler & Price Pilot that has become a bit of a workhorse of late.  Here are the results....

Half-Marathon Team Pics & Framed Prints

Oh how we love this time of year.  We're almost done with all of our Holiday Card printing and today a customer emailed us some pictures of their team after completing the Las Vegas Rock-N-Roll Half-Marathon.  We designed the logo for their tee, as well as printed them on performance shirts from American Apparel.  They were very happy with the results and congratulations to the entire team for completing the race!

On another bit of customer news, a recent bride sent us a framed picture of a custom print we did to commemorate their wedding in Washington DC.  See below:

Holiday Cards: Part Deux

We had one of our favorite customers Katie over for her round of Holiday Card printing.  Eschewing the traditional green and red she wanted more of a coral/green theme.  Here's some brief snaps of what we came up.

We got pictures from the recent wedding of Ashley & Jeff that showcase some of the work we did for their event.  We came up with the following paper items to help...

A rainy day means holiday cards!

It is an absolutely rainy and gross day today.  As a result, we had our great friend Michelle come over to do her holiday cards.  We worked on a design for a fold-over card and here is the result!  It's a two-color letterpress card, green with red accents.  Printed on a pearl white Crane 100% Cotton 'paper', with matching envelope.

A Creative Spin on Save-the-Dates

Today we came up with two designs for an upcoming bride for her "Save-the-Dates".  We don't know which one she prefers....but what do you think?  The colors are brown and purple, with a peacock theme running throughout.
